APSAR - Association of Public Service Alliance Retirees
Feb 16, 2011
Brothers and Sisters
Let me first begin by introducing myself. My name is Sheila Jerrett,
Regional Vice-President of (APSAR) Association of Public Service Alliance
Retirees, for the Atlantic. I had been involved with the labour movement for 25 years before I retired. Upon retirement I felt it was important for me to continue my involvement and contribute my experience and knowledge to PSAC and its retirees.
APSAR was formed in 1997 and is managed and governed by volunteers. Its
purpose is to group together all former PSAC members who are retired and
all PSAC members who are over 50 years old. Our goal is to help and
inform PSAC members, to make them aware of retirement challenges, such as
pension plan, health care and injustices made to retirees and elderly,
as well as protect and safeguard the benefits we have now.
Given the demographic changes, governments are becoming more and more
proactive and aggressive towards seniors and retirees. The only way to
defend ourselves is to unite and fight against some of these changes.
Join us! It’s worth it. Let’s work together.
APSAR is trying to do an outreach to PSAC members who have
retired and recruit members who are over 50 years of age. If you or you
local are interested in obtaining further information on becoming a
member of APSAR you can contact me or go to the APSAR website at
